On September ~ 1, 2023, the biennial academic conference of Hubei Province and Wuhan Pharmacological Society was successfully held in Zhaojun Villa, Xingshan County, Yichang City, Hubei Province. The conference was co-sponsored by the Hubei Pharmacological Society and the Wuhan Pharmacological Society. The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Chen Xiao, Chairman of Wuhan Pharmacological Society, Professor Chen Jianguo, Honorary Chairman of Hubei Pharmacological Society, Professor Wang Hui, Honorary Chairman of Wuhan Pharmacological Society, and Professor Wang Fang, Chairman of Hubei Pharmacological Society, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 250 experts and scholars from various fields of pharmacology inside and outside the province attended the meeting. The conference has a strong academic atmosphere, high academic quality and rich content. A total of 136 abstracts were received, 10 conference reports and 16 sub-venue reports were received, and 34 graduate students participated in the youth paper report competition, 47 graduate students participated in the excellent poster exchange and 8 teachers participated in the teaching competition.

Well-known experts from inside and outside the province who participated in this meeting brought various types of wonderful reports, which greatly expanded the academic horizons of the participants. In the invited report of the conference, Professor Hu Zhi'an of the Institute of Brain and Intelligence of the Army Medical University brought a report entitled "The Brain's Wakefulness and Sleep Cycle", Professor Chen Xiongwen of the School of Pharmacy of Tianjin Medical University made a report on "PKA: the main regulator of physiological and pathological myocardial hypertrophy", Professor He Jinhan of West China Hospital of Sichuan University/West China School of Pharmacy introduced "The role of new liver secretion factors in metabolic diseases", and Professor Chen Jianguo of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology introduced "New progress in the research of neuroinflammatory mechanism of depression". Professor Huang Lingli of Huazhong Agricultural University made a report entitled "Rational Use of Veterinary Antimicrobial Drugs and Key Technologies for Drug Resistance Prevention and Control" on the issue of bacterial resistance of public concern, Li Boran, Director of the Registration Management Office of Hubei Provincial Drug Administration, made a report on "Domestic Innovative Drug R&D Situation and Development Direction", Professor Chen Xiao of the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Wuhan University introduced "Targeted Therapy for Immune Cell-mediated Glioma", and Professor Xiang Ming of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology introduced "Obesity-related Molecular Regulation AKT/ Research on the Mechanism of RAF-1 Axis Affecting Antitumor Drug Sensitivity", Professor Xu Dan from the School of Pharmacy of Wuhan University gave a report entitled "Intrauterine Programming Mechanism and Early Warning Prevention of Drug-induced Hippocampal Developmental Toxicity", and Professor Fang Chao of Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology systematically introduced "Antithrombotic Drugs and Vascular Biology".

After on-site evaluation, Cao Xinrui and Sun Xiaoxiang from the School of Basic Medical Sciences of Wuhan University, and He Jingang, lecturer from Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, won the first prize of the Youth Thesis Report Competition and the Teacher Teaching Competition. During the meeting, the 10th Council and Party Branch Enlarged Meeting of Hubei Provincial Pharmacological Society was also held, and Professor Wang Fang, chairman of the Society, summarized the work of the Society after the last Council and introduced the next work plan. The participating directors spoke enthusiastically, and put forward many good suggestions for the work of the society, mainly from the aspects of adding professional committees and expanding the influence of the society. During the conference, the participants not only exchanged the new achievements and progress of pharmacology research, but also discussed the importance and development direction of pharmacology discipline construction. The closing ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Ming Zhangyin, vice chairman of the Hubei Provincial Pharmacological Society, and the leaders of the society were invited to award certificates to the winners of the "Teacher Teaching Competition", "Youth Excellent Report Award" and "Excellent Poster Award". Finally, Professor Chen Xiao, chairman of the Wuhan Pharmacological Society, made a concluding speech, believing that this meeting was a successful meeting, which reflected that the new research force has played an increasingly important role in the work of the society, and the pharmacology research team in our province has been growing and the level has been continuously improved.
